Greg Webster '09 G'11 will enter his seventh season as the offensive coordinator with the Springfield College football program during the 2022-23 academic year. Webster previously worked at the NCAA Division I Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) level as the Special Teams Coordinator for Defense and Defensive Backs Coach at the University of Maine.
Under his leadership, the Pride's offense has continued to evolve as one of the premier rushing attacks. In 2019, the Pride averaged 357.4 rushing yards to win the Division III rushing title for the ninth time in program history, while Springfield also had the best fourth-down conversion in the country this year, (70.6) and the best yards-per-completion average in Division III (23.80). During a historic 2017 campaign, Webster helped direct an offense that produced the most rushing yards in all of college football, eclipsing the 4,700 yard mark, and average more than 435 yards per game on the ground, and was seventh in Division III in scoring offense, racking up 43.9 points per game. Under his leadership, Webster helped Jordan Wilcox become one of four national finalists for the 2017 Gagliardi National Player of the Year Trophy, as the fullback ranked in the top five nationally in rushing yards (1,786), yards per game (162.4) and total touchdowns (23), while also leading the nation with yards per rush (7.83).
During his time at Maine, Webster moved up the ranks, starting in 2012 as video coordinator and defensive assistant, where he coached All-American corner NFL draft pick Kendall James. In 2013, Webster helped guided the Black Bears to the 2013 Colonial Athletic Association (CAA) Championship and the fifth seed in the FSC Playoffs as he moved into the special teams coordinator for defense. In 2014, Webster was promoted to the defensive backs/safeties coach and helped Maine to a pair of top 20 rankings in total defense the past two years.
Webster previously coached at the Division III ranks when he was an assistant coach at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Indiana, where he served as an assistant coach working with the wide receivers.
Prior to his one-year stay at RHIT, Webster spent a season on the sidelines at his alma mater, where he coached the wide receivers and helped lead Springfield College to a 9-2 record and ECAC North Atlantic Bowl Championship. He earned a Master's Degree in Education, with a concentration in Athletic Administration. Webster first got into coaching at UConn where he was an operations intern in 2009 and helped coordinate UConn's 2009 Pro Day.
As a student-athlete at Springfield College, Webster was a two-time captain for the Pride as a member of its secondary and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a degree in Sport Management.
