Tanner DeVarennes '17 G'19 begins his fourth year as the head men's and women's tennis coach and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College during the 2025-26 academic year. Last season, he led the men's squad to a historic season tying the program record for wins at 13.

Across both the men's and women's tennis programs, DeVarennes has helped produce 16 CSC Academic All-Distrcict honorees, two All-Conference selections, and a NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in his past three seasons with the Pride.

A standout for the men's tennis program during his time as a student-athlete at Springfield College, DeVarennes was the 2014 New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Rookie of the Year and would later go on to earn a pair of all-conference honors.

DeVarennes makes his return to Springfield College most recently after serving as the assistant men's and women's tennis coach at Fairfield University in the Division I ranks.

DeVarennes previously served as the head women's tennis coach at American International College from 2019-2022 while coaching in the NCAA Division II landscape.  He took over the head job with the Yellowjackets after a two-year stint as the Springfield College men's tennis graduate assistant coach.  Additionally, DeVarennes gained coaching experience as an assistant tennis professional at Hartford Tennis Club, Pittsfield Country Club, and Canyon Ranch.  He graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Sport Management from Springfield College in 2017 and a Masters in Physical Education with a concentration in advanced-level coaching from Springfield College in 2019.
