Anna Steinman will enter her tenth season as the head men's and women's cross country coach and assistant track & field coach at Springfield College during the 2025-26 academic year. Steinman is also an associate professor in Springfield College's Physical Education and Health Education department.
During the 2024 season, Steinman led the women's cross country team to their highest finish at the NEWMAC Championships since 2011. She also helped senior Joe Wong qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships in the 800-meter run for his first appearance on the national stage.
The Springfield College cross country programs had an impressive 2019 season, as Jack Pinho earned All-Conference honors and was an indoor national qualifier in the mile, while both the men's and women's teams were outstanding in the classroom.
In 2019, the mens' cross country program posted a grade-point average of 3.34, which was improved from its 3.25 a season prior, and ranked the Pride 13th in New England and third in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). The women posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.77, improving upon their 3.70 from a season prior. Out of the 215 women's teams recognized, the Pride ranked seventh in the nation, second in the NEWMAC, and second in New England, only trailing WPI, which had a 3.78.
The 2017-18 academic year was a breakout season for Steinman, as she coached Pinho to an All-Region and NEWMAC All-Conference honor during the cross country season and a pair of All-America performance during the track and field season. Steinman also helped junior Kristen Madeia to qualify for the 2018 NCAA Division III National Championships in the 800-meter run.
Steinman got her coaching start at her alma mater, Salisbury University, and she spent two seasons as the graduate assistant. She worked with the cross country and track and field programs and focused on the distance and middle distance runners. As a member of the coaching staff, she helped the men's program to a fourth-place finished at the 2015 NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships, two men's indoor and outdoor Capital Athletic Conference Championships in 2014 and 2015, and a men's cross country conference title in 2014.
A 2013 Salisbury graduate, Steinman earned a degree in Physical Education, and completed her graduate studies in 2015 when she earned a degree in Applied Health Physiology. As an undergraduate at Salisbury, Steinman was a four-year member of the cross country and track & field teams, served as captain of both teams, and twice earned All-Capital Athletic Conference honors.
