Charles Shoffner

Charles Shoffner begins his first season as the full-time assistant coach for the Springfield College men's and women's track and field programs for the 2022-23 campaign. 

"Charles brings deep experience to our track and field coaching staff, from his time as an elite NCAA Division I competitor to years of coaching young runners," mentioned Springfield College Director of Athletics, Dr. Craig Poisson. "I look forward to Coach Shoffner's impact on our men's and women's track and field student-athletes."
 
Shoffner began his work on Alden Street last November as a graduate assistant with the track and field programs and has since been elevated to full time assistant. Shoffner has made an immediate impact working primarily with the sprinters and will spend time implementing training to help maximize the performance of student-athletes. 
 
"We are very excited to welcome Coach Charles into the role of assistant track and field coach here at Springfield College," said head coach Mike Miller. "He brings a wealth of knowledge and a deep understanding of the student-athlete experience.  In his short time here he has already made an immediate impact on the program, we are excited to see what else he can do."

The Greensboro, North Carolina native brings extensive experience working with student-athletes at the high school level as Shoffner served as the Dudley High School track and field head coach for 10 years before coming to Springfield College. As a student-athlete, Shoffner spent time at UNC-Wilmington before transferring to North Carolina A&T and earned All-MEAC honors in the 400 meter and was apart of the 4x400m relay squad. 
  
"It is an honor to join the Springfield College track and field program as a full-time assistant coach," said Shoffner."I am looking forward to being an integral part of the coaching staff."
 
Shoffner is continuing the pursue a master's degree in Advanced Level Coaching at Springfield College.
