Michelle Lee Scecina ’97, G’01 serves as the Associate Athletic Director for Compliance and Student-Athlete Well-Being and Senior Woman Administrator at Springfield College. She manages compliance and eligibility for more than 800 student-athletes across 26 varsity programs, overseeing roster management, medical clearance, eligibility tracking, transfer portal activity, NCAA eligibility certification, and conference and NCAA reporting. She has implemented new systems to streamline student-athlete clearance, compliance education, and departmental project requests, and she regularly provides coaches with interpretations, weekly compliance updates, and support with academic award nominations and medical hardship waivers.

Beyond compliance, Lee Scecina leads several major departmental initiatives and signature events, including the Athletics Golf Classic, the Hall of Fame Induction, National Girls and Women in Sport Day, and the End of Year Awards Celebration. She co-advises the Student-Athlete Leadership Team (SALT), supporting community engagement efforts such as Fresh Check Day, Fill the Bus, Team IMPACT initiatives, and featured games. She also serves as the point person for student-athlete well-being, conduct processes, and concerns, helping foster a supportive and transparent student-athlete experience.

Her campus and conference involvement includes serving on the NEWMAC Championships Committee, the Bias Incident Report Team (BIRT), and the Student-Athlete Wellness Team (SAW), in addition to holding leadership roles such as NCGA East Administrator and chairing hiring committees. Dedicated to professional development, she has attended national and regional compliance and wellness conferences, participated in Title IX and ATIXA training, and collaborated with the Faculty Athletics Representative to strengthen connections between faculty and student-athletes. She also mentors graduate assistants and interns and supports faculty initiatives.

A Springfield College Hall of Fame women’s basketball player, Lee Scecina remains the only player in program history to record both 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds in a career. She was inducted into the Springfield College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016. Prior to returning to her alma mater in 2018, she spent 14 years as the head women’s basketball coach at Mount Holyoke College, where she led the program to its first NEWMAC Championship, an NCAA Division III Tournament berth, and earned NEWMAC Coach of the Year honors. She also served as a senior lecturer and co-president of the New England Women’s Basketball Association (NEWBA).
