Springfield College Executive Director of Athletics, Dr.
Craig Poisson, is pleased to announce that Sam Trumbley has been named as the Coordinator of Athletic Communications at Springfield College.
"I want to thank Dr.
Craig Poisson and
Emily Lange for this incredible opportunity," said Trumbley. "I'm extremely excited to join Springfield College and become part of such a historic athletic community and I'm looking forward to telling the stories of Springfield's teams and student-athletes.
Trumbley comes to Springfield after spending two years as a graduate assistant in athletic communications at Southern Connecticut State University. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science and will finish his master's degree in sport and entertainment management in September.
During his time as a graduate assistant for the Owls he was the primary contact for women's soccer, men's and women's cross country, men's basketball, men's and women's track and field and baseball which all compete in Division II's Northeast 10.
"Sam's versatility in all facets of sports communication makes him a strong addition to our department," said Poisson. "I look forward to his creative approach in telling the stories of our student-athletes."
Trumbley has also spent time as an athletic communications assistant for several teams in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) and the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), assisting with gameday operations and multiple ESPN+ broadcasts. Additionally, he was a practice player for the Southern Connecticut women's basketball team that won the 2025-26 Northeast 10 Championship Title and also served as an assistant boy's basketball coach at Woodland Regional High School.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Sam to Springfield and I know that he will make an immediate impact," said
Emily Lange, Assistant Athletic Director for Athletic Communications. "His wealth of knowledge and experience in the field will make him a valuable member of the team. Sam's passion for sharing the experiences and celebrating the accomplishments of the department will benefit our student-athletes and teacher-coaches.
