Hartford, Conn. – October 21, 2010 – The Trinity College field hockey team netted three goals in the first half as it powered past visiting Springfield College, 4-0, in a non-conference clash on Thursday evening.
The win brings Trinity’s record to 8-4, while Springfield falls to 8-7 this season.
Robyn Williams led the way for the hosts with two goals and an assist for the win on Robin Sheppard Field.
Payson Sword scored less than ten minutes into the game – the first of three Trinity goals in the first half – as the Bantams would go on to win their fifth straight contest. Sword finished the game with a goal and an assist, while Christy Bradley would net her team-high tenth goal of the season in the win.
The Bantams owned an 11-3 advantage in shots for the game, including a 6-1 cushion in the opening 35 minutes of play.
Alison McCarthy tallied seven saves in goal for Springfield in the loss. Her counterpart, Gina Dinallo, needed to make just one save to earn the shutout victory.
The Pride will now gear up for a critical New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) game on the road at Babson on Saturday.
