Springfield, Mass – January 8, 2011 – The Springfield College womenÂ's swimming and diving team completed a dual-meet sweep over visiting Hartwick College and Union College this afternoon at SC’s Art Linkletter Natatorium. The Pride outscored Hartwick 168-75, while beating Union 143-98.
Kellie Pennington and Meredith Trumbull led the scoring for Springfield, each winning two individual events. Pennington continued to build upon her impressive freshman campaign with wins in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100- yard freestyle. Pennington swam a 24.29 to take the 50-free before cruising to a two and half second victory in the 100-free with a time of 52.93. Trumbull took the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:45.09 before winning the 200-yard butterfly handily in 2:13.95.
The Pride saw other individual winners in the 1000-yard freestyle and the 200-yard freestyle. Meghan Sisson won the 1000 free in a time of 10:59.52, and Aimee Doe took first in the 200-yard free with a time of 2:00.52.
The Springfield women finished the meet with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The team of Doe, Caroline Kosciusko, Kaitlin Reilly, and Pennington took first in 3:41.92.
In diving, Courtney Keefe was victorious in the one-meter event, tallying a score of 249.45. Kyra Breitweiser took first in the three-meter event, scoring 243.50 to give the Pride a diving sweep.
The Pride will host NYU at home next Saturday afternoon at 1:00 pm.
