Box Score Norton, Mass. – October 5, 2013 – The Springfield College field hockey team snapped its six-game slide on Saturday with a 4-0 win at Wheaton College in a New England WomenÂ's and MenÂ's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest at Nordin Field.
 Springfield received goals from four different scorers as Olivia Cabral (Sayville, N.Y.), Sarah Ducharme (Dudley, Mass.), Tori Stollmer (Hopewell Junction, N.Y.) and Linnea Quist (New Preston, Conn.) all found the back of the cage.
 Wheaton senior goalkeeper Ellie Massengill (Amherst, Mass.) turned aside a game-high eight saves in the loss, while Pride goalkeeper Juliana Barrasso (Bayport, N.Y.) made five saves in her first-career shutout.
 Springfield surged out to an early 2-0 advantage on tallies from Cabral at the 17:27 mark and Ducharme at 19:25. Cabral opened up the scoring on a beautiful give-and-go marker set up by senior MK Murray (Killingworth, Conn.) for her fourth goal of the season. Two minutes and two seconds later, Ducharme deposited her first goal of the year off of a rebound.
 Murray went on to assist the next two goals for the Pride. Murray fed Stollmer with a crisp pass at the 26:24 mark near the left side of the cage to close out the scoring in the first stanza and also had her shot at 65:02 redirected into the goal by Quist.
 Wheaton (4-8, 0-3 NEWMAC) travels to MIT on Tuesday, October 8 for a NEWMAC clash at 6 p.m. Springfield (2-7, 1-2 NEWMAC) visits Castleton on Wednesday, October 9 at 4 p.m.
