Springfield, Mass.-November 8, 2014-The Springfield College women's swimming and diving team dropped a 211-88 decision in a dual meet against visiting MIT on Saturday afternoon in the Art Linkletter Natatorium.
The Pride were led behind the strong swimming of sophomore Emily Medeiros (Wakefield, Mass.) who captured first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:08.62.
Callie Phillips (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was the runner-up in the 200 free with a time of 1:58.06, placed second in the 500 free in 5:15.08, and took third in the 100 free (54.98)
Freshman Kassandra Lamb (Reading, Mass.) also had a strong outing for the Pride as she placed second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:59.20. Lamb also competed in the 100 breaststroke (1.11.02), and 200 IM (2:14.66).
Additionally, Christina Greco (Wilbraham, Mass.) touched second in the 100 fly in 59.49 Stephanie Antonellis (Orange, Conn.) touched in third in the 100 back in 1:03.98
Morgan Kitzmiller (Dover, Pa.) and Melanie Avdoulos (East Longmeadow, Mass.) took first and second on both the one and three meter boards. Kitzmiller took first in the one-meter competition with a national qualifying score of 285.15, while Avdoulos was the victor on the three-meter with a score of 252.53.
The Pride will play host to Keene State and Wheaton College in a tri-match next Saturday at 1:00pm.
