Box Score Springfield, Mass. – October 13, 2015 - Despite sophomore Maggie Kennedy (Clay, N.Y.) posting a career-best three assists, the Springfield College field hockey team suffered a 4-3 loss to Trinity College on Tuesday evening at Stagg Field.
Springfield, which falls to 5-7 with the loss, took an early 1-0 lead over Trinity with 23:08 left in the first half after Kristina Krull (Leicester, Mass.) tipped in a shot from Kennedy to give the Pride an early one-goal advantage.
Trinity, now 6-5 on the year, pulled even just 7:20 later, as Kelcie Finn (Weymouth, Mass.) sent a crossing pass into the center, which deflected off the stick of Elizabeth Caporale (Glastonbury, Conn.) and into the net with 15:38 left in the stanza.
Trinity carried its momentum into the second half, as Finn scored off a feed from Mia Olsen (Granby, Conn.) just 4:01 into the half, before Sydney Doolittle (Milford, Conn.) redirected a pass from Chandler Solimine (Pelham, N.Y.) into the net to give the Bantams a three-goal advantage with 27:21 remaining in the contest.
The Pride wasted no time striking back just over a minute later as Kennedy found Katie Gill (Wallingford, Conn.) in front of the net for the finish. Three minutes later, Kennedy found Gill yet again to equalize the score at three goals apiece.
Caporale scored her second tally of the game to seal the victory for the Bantams with 15:20 left in the game. Finn fired a shot on net that was deflected and regained by Doolittle, and sent toward the net before Caporale tapped it in on the goal line.
