Box Score Springfield, Mass. - October 3, 2015 - Despite out shooting the Beavers 25-5 throughout the course of the contest, the Springfield College women's soccer program was not able to find the back of the net, as the Pride fell to Babson College, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon at Brock-Affleck Field.
With the loss, Springfield falls to 6-3-1 on the season, and 2-1 in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play, while the Beavers improve to 7-2-3 on the year, and 1-0-3 in league action.
Junior goalkeeper Brooke Fairman (Huntington, Mass.) finished the contest without posting a save, while her counterpart, Elizabeth Mycock (Wyndham, Maine) registered seven stops in the win. Springfield held a 4-2 advantage in corner kicks, while senior forward Krissy Cicalis (Bridgewater, Mass.) finished the game with a contest-high five shots, while sophomore Mikaela Coady (Middletown, Conn.) posted a team-best three shots on goal.
Following a scoreless first half, Babson took a one-goal lead with 35:08 remaining in the game when Emma Dineen (Hinsdale, Ill.) gathered the ball at the top of the box, and lofted a shot over the head of Fairman to give the Beavers a 1-0 lead.
Springfield applied some late pressure, but the stout defensive effort from Babson was able to preserve the shut-out victory. Up next, Springfield will travel to Smith College on Tuesday, October 6 for a 4 p.m. contest.
