Springfield, Mass. — October 21, 2026 — The Springfield College women's soccer team tied, 1-1, against New England Men's and Women's Conference (NEWMAC) opponent Wellesley in a Wednesday night contest on Brock Affleck Field.
The Pride move to 3-10-1 overall and 2-5-1 in conference play after drawing their first match of the season while Wellesley moves to 5-6-4 on the season and 2-3-3 in NEWMAC play.
It was a competitive first half accompanied by great defensive play from both squads. Springfield took nine shots to Wellesley's five with both goalkeepers earning one save a piece as neither team was able to score through the first 45 minutes.
Neither team saw a goal until late in the second half, when, in the 82nd minute, Peyton Knott (Leicester, Mass) delivered a cross into the box to Katie McFerran (Selkirk, N.Y.) who finished off the assist with a header past the keeper to give Springfield the lead. Just over one minute later, Wellesley responded with a goal of their own as both teams would play to a draw.
Springfield outshot Wellesley 15-12 and held an 8-3 advantage in corner kicks. Mallory Forgatch (Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.) tallied one save in goal.
The Pride are on the road at Emerson for their next match on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
