Women's Volleyball Sweeps Mount Holyoke

Box Score

South Hadley, Mass. - October 12, 2021 - The Springfield College women's volleyball team picked up its fourth conference win of the season as it swept Mount Holyoke in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest on Tuesday evening by the set scores of 25-13, 25-15, 25-18.

The victory lifted Springfield's record to 15-4, 4-4 on the year as the Pride won its fourth-straight match.

Camryn Bancroft (Eastport, N.Y.) led all players with 12 kills which came at a .478 clip and added three blocks. Sara Labadorf (Huntersville, N.C.) totaled 29 assists, 10 digs, three kills, and two aces, and Hailey Deguire (Schenectady, N.Y.) registered 10 digs of her own. Abigail Wright (Manhattan Beach, Calif.) was impressive from the end line with seven of the Pride's 15 service aces.   Springfield limited Mount Holyoke to a .039 hitting percentage on the night.

It was all Bancroft in the opening set as she terminated eight kills, which was the same total as Mount Holyoke's output as a team in the frame.  With a 12-10 lead in the first, Bancroft took over with five kills as part of an 11-1 burst as Springfield coasted to a 25-13 triumph.

Julia O'Connor (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and Natalie Billet (Commack, N.Y.) combined for a block before O'Connor buried a swing in transition to give the Pride an early 7-1 lead in the second.  The Lyons would pull within 10-8, but the Pride would regain control of the frame with an 11-3 run which featured two aces from Briana Tovar (Tucson, Ariz.) en route to the 25-15 win.

Springfield jumped out to a 7-2 lead in the third following a kill from Mac Fornili (Fort Belvoir, Va.).  The Lyons would get no closer than four points before consecutive aces from Wright pushed the Pride's lead to 20-12.  Jamie Albrecht (Selden, N.Y.) blistered a kill in transition to complete the 25-18 victory.

On Thursday, Springfield will host Johnson & Wales 7 pm.
