Emerson Slips Past Men's Tennis In NEWMAC Opener

Springfield, Mass. - April 8, 2022 - The Springfield College men's tennis team dropped its first New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) match of the season to visiting Emerson, 6-3, on Friday afternoon.

Emerson earned a pair of points in doubles, with the Pride's Sichen Ni (Hefei, Anhui, China) and James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) powering their way to an 8-2 triumph at No. 3.  Springfield's Greg Baker (Gladstone, N.J.) had an impressive performance in singles, producing a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 5, while Jiahe Ye (Beijing, China) delivered a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6.

Springfield will hit the courts again on Saturday when it continues conference play at MIT.
