Beverly, Mass. – September 13, 2023 – Behind a 13-kill night from junior Riley Donahue (South Windsor, Conn.), the Springfield College women's volleyball team swept Endicott College by set scores of 25-19, 25-16, 25-17 tonight in Macdonald Gymnasium.

The win pushed Springfield's record to 7-1, while Endicott evened out its record to 3-3 on the season.

Junior Natalie Billet (Commack, N.Y.) registered eight kills and five digs tonight, while sophomore Maeve Voltz (Bay Shore, N.Y.) posted seven kills and a solo block. As a team, Springfield notched 13 service aces – five of which came from graduate student Ally Townsend (Hummelstown, Pa.). Defensively, first-year Olivia Nealy (Athens, Ga.) led the way with nine digs and sophomore Olivia Gentry (Cincinnati, Ohio) recorded a pair of solo blocks.

Springfield hit .343 in the opening set and raced out to a 20-5 advantage. Townsend held serve late in the run and posted four of her five aces to force the Gulls to call a timeout. Endicott cut its deficit to as few as five at 24-19 before a swing by Gentry gave Springfield a 25-19 set one victory.

The Pride trailed 7-5 early in set two before they ripped off a 7-1 run giving them a 12-8 edge midway through the stanza. The run featured two aces and a kill from Donahue as well as a kill and two solo blocks from Gentry. Springfield ballooned its advantage to as many as nine points at 22-13 before an error by Endicott paired with swings by Gentry and Billet gave the Pride a 25-16 win in the middle set.

The third set saw the score even on nine different occasions with the final time coming at 17-17. Springfield capped the three set sweep with an impressive 8-0 run that featured a pair of aces from first-year Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.).

Springfield will travel to Union College (N.Y.) on Friday for the start of a two-day tournament. The Pride will open play against the hosts at 4:00 pm before they take on Oneonta at 6:00 pm in the night cap.
