New London, Conn. – September 24, 2023 – The Springfield College men's tennis program competed at the 2023 Connecticut College/Coast Guard Invitational over the weekend.

On Saturday, juniors Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) and Micah Matsudaira (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) picked up a pair of wins as they topped Ruben Weijer and Jack Li of Saint Michael's College, 7-6 (7), and Brendan Love and Logan De Los Santos of Coast Guard, 7-5.

Also on Saturday, Springfield junior Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) and graduate student James Foley (Fair Haven, N.J.) topped Benjamin Carlander and Noah Reice of Coast Guard, 6-1.

On Sunday, the Springfield tandem of sophomore Marc Villanueva Abad (Morelia, Mexico) and junior Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) won a trio of matches with victories over Julies Taylor-Kerman and Sigmund Winiecki of Connecticut College, 6-4, Jackson Moser and Garrett Booker of Saint Michael's, 6-2, as well as Jack Ginter and Rico Buoro of Trinity College, 6-1.

Springfield will travel to Bowdoin College next weekend for the ITA Regional Championship, which begins on Friday, September 29.
