Staten Island, N.Y. – November 23, 2024 – The Springfield College men's basketball team fell to Division I Wagner College, 81-46, in an exhibition contest in the Spiro Sports Center Athletic Complex on Saturday afternoon.
Xoren Livingston (Wayland, Mass.) paced Springfield with 13 points, while
RJ Hutt (Mamaroneck, N.Y.)registered 11 points and three blocks for the Pride. As a team, Springfield shot 40.9-percent from the floor. Wagner saw five student-athletes register double-digit point totals highlighted by 19 points on 9-for-13 shooting from Zaire Williams.
Wagner outscored Springfield 46-16 in the paint and scored 32 points off of Pride turnovers today.

Josh Hartley (Brooklyn, N.Y.) paired with a free throw
by John Paulino (New Bedford, Mass.) gave Springfield an early 5-2 edge as the majority of the first half was played as a one possession game. Springfield made 12 shots from the floor – including seven from behind the arc - and shot 54.5-percent over the opening 20 minutes of the game.
Hutt knocked down a jumper to cut Springfield's deficit to just three at 35-32 with 1:30 left in the first, but Wagner ended the stanza by scoring the final five points for a 40-32 lead at the break.
Wagner outscored Springfield, 41-14, over the final 20 minutes of the game to account for the 81-46 final. The hosts scored the first ten points of the second to go ahead by 18 at 50-32 and never looked back.
Springfield will have a couple of weeks off before opening New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) play against MIT on December 4 at 7pm in Blake Arena.
