Lily Johnson (Oceanside, N.Y.) and first-year
Izzy Lalancette (Feeding Hills, Mass.) powered the Springfield College women's lacrosse team to a 13-11 win over Endicott College in the program's season opener this afternoon at Hempsted Stadium.
Springfield opens the year at 1-0, while Endicott begins the 2024 campaign at 0-1.
Johnson registered a career-high five goals including back-to-back markers to seal the victory for the Pride late in the fourth quarter, while Lalancette had a memorable collegiate debut with four goals for the first hat trick of her career in addition to one assist. Senior

Arielle Johnson (Pomfret, Conn.) registered a game-high four assists, while senior
Hannah Hibbert (Center Harbor, N.H.) won seven draw controls, posted three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers. Kiana Napolitano paced Endicott with four goals and two assists.
L. Johnson tallied Springfield's first goal of the season 1:42 into the contest to even the score at 1-1, but the Pride ultimately trailed 6-4 after 15 minutes of play. L. Johnson notched two of Springfield's first quarter goals, while Andresen registered her first tally of the season off a feed from A. Johnson at the 11:24 mark. A. Johnson posted helpers on Springfield's first three goals of the game before Roy converted on a free position shot midway through the first.
Springfield trailed 7-4 midway through the second before the Pride scored the final three goals of the half to even the score going into the break. Lalancette and Taylor registered unassisted strikes before a free position goal by L. Johnson with 1.4 seconds to play in the stanza knotted the score at seven.
Newton gave Springfield an 8-7 edge three minutes into the third with a goal as the Pride played with the woman-advantage until back-to-back strikes by Napolitano put Endicott ahead 9-8 after three.
Springfield strung together three straight goals to open the fourth for an 11-9 lead - a lead the Pride would not relinquish for the rest of the game en route to the 13-11 victory. Lalancette tallied the first two goals of the run before she found L. Johnson in transition for her fourth of the contest. After the Gulls got one back, A. Johnson once again found L. Johnson for Springfield's 12th goal and Lalancette capped the scoring on an unassisted strike for the win.
As a team, Springfield held a 29-25 edge in shots, a 17-12 differential in ground balls, won 17-of-27 draw controls and went 19-for-19 on clearing attempts. The Pride also went 2-for-4 on free position attempts.
In goal, senior
Haley Moody (Wells, Maine) moved to 1-0 with five saves in the Springfield victory. Moody also scooped up three ground balls and caused a pair of turnovers.
Springfield will return home for its first game on Stagg Field on Wednesday, February 28 as the Pride host Skidmore College at 5:00 pm.
