Game Recap: Men's Lacrosse |

Fast Start Leads No. 17 Stevens Past Men's Lacrosse, 13-8

Hoboken, N.J. – February 24, 2024 – The Springfield College men's lacrosse team was bested by nationally-ranked Stevens, 13-8, on Saturday afternoon at the DeBaun Athletic Complex.
.
Springfield dipped to 0-2 on the year with the setback, while the Ducks, who were ranked 17th nationally in the most recent USILA National Poll, are 1-1.

Kevin Tierney (Glastonbury, Conn.) registered four points, including three assists, while Jake Degnan (Mahopac, N.Y.) pumped in three goals and Mason Nocito (Mahopac, N.Y.) added three assists of his own for the Pride. Kaden Quick (Nahant, Mass.) was credited with 19 stops between the pipes, Gavin Carzello (Westfield, Mass.) snagged nine ground balls, and Vincent Scialdone (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.) went 11-of-18 on face-offs.

Stevens raced out to a 6-0 lead with just over 10 minutes left in the first half before Tierney netted a man-up goal at 7:56.  After trailing 7-1 at the half, Springfield opened up the third quarter with markers from Degnan and Nicholas Gorman (Valhalla, N.Y.) in the first two minutes to make it a four-goal game.  However, Stevens responded with three-straight goals to regain a 10-3 cushion.  Springfield strung together four goals in the fourth, including a pair from Degnan, but Stevens was able to hold on for the non-conference victory.

The Pride will play again next Saturday when it hosts No. 11 Union at 4 pm on Stagg Field.
