Springfield 10, Wesleyan 1 (5 inn.)
The Pride scored early and often to start off the game against Wesleyan, accounting for eight runs off nine hits through the first two frames. The Pride plated four in the first, fueled by a two-run double from
Callie Gendron (Berlin, Conn.) before
Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) belted a two-run homer in the second. The Pride added two more runs in the third on run-scoring singles from Pecchia and
Emilia Santiago (West Hartford, Conn.).
DeRosa would pick up her second win of the season as she again tossed five innings, giving up one earned run off two hits while striking out three. Both Pecchia and DeRosa accounted for three hits and
Breannah McCann (Poway, Calif.) added a pair of RBI.
Springfield 10, St. Joseph's 2 (6 inn.)
Springfield used another fast start against St. Joseph's as they plated three runs in the second inning, with McCann and
Ava Rainone (White Plains, N.Y.) accounting for RBI base knocks. After St. Joseph's responded with a pair of runs in the third, Springfield tacked on two runs in the fourth, getting a RBI groundout from
Emily Whelan (Hopkinton, Mass.) and a sacrifice fly from McCann. The Pride then put the game away for good in the sixth, totaling five runs off four hits. Santiago ripped a bases-loaded single to get the scoring started before McCann added another sacrifice fly, and
Alli Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Rainone drove in runs with singles. Rainone then accounted for the game's 10th run as she sprinted home on a wild pitch, marking the third time in the first four games that Springfield has scored double digit runs.
Emily Gell (Trumbull, Conn.) was impressive in the circle, striking out seven in six innings of work while giving up two runs off four hits.
