Game One: Springfield 5, Wellesley 0

Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.) was once again dominant in the circle for Springfield as she tossed her fifth complete game shutout of the spring. The sophomore scattered seven hits and struck out three to improve to 8-2 overall.

Springfield put together three runs in the bottom of the second as the Pride loaded the bases on a walk by Callie Gendron (Berlin, Conn.) and singles by both Michaela Ponticello (Gloversville, N.Y.) and Breannah McCann (Poway, Calif.). Alli Olsen (Ridgewood, N.J.) hit the ball on the ground to the Wellesley shortstop, who over threw first base, which allowed two runners to come across and score. An RBI infield knock by DeRosa completed the three run frame.

Gendron lined a one out double to right field and an RBI single through the left side by Lucy Puskas (Roxbury, Conn.) plated pinch runner Sarah Falcone (Monroe, Conn.) for the 4-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth. Puskas then scored Springfield's fifth run of the game on an RBI hit by McCann.

Wellesley had runners on second and third, but DeRosa got Elli DeCleene to fly out to end the game.

Game Two: Wellesley 4, Springfield 3

Springfield took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third when Ava Rainone (White Plains, N.Y.) reached on an error to begin the frame. Rainone stole second, moved to third on a bunt by Olsen and scored on an RBI ground out by DeRosa.

Wellesley used a double and three straight singles, paired with an outfield error to take a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth, but Springfield quickly responded with a two spot of its own in the bottom of the frame. Rainone belted a two run single through the left side for a 3-2 edge.

In the top of the sixth, Wellesley's Alena Mulhern came up clutch with a two run single up the middle for a 4-3 lead and despite getting runners on base in the bottom of the sixth, Blue starter Jillian Colgan shutdown the Pride in the seventh to earn the split.
