Three from Football Named to NEFW College Division All-New England Team

Springfield, Mass. – November 25, 2025 – For the fourth consecutive season, the Springfield College football team had three student-athletes named to the New England Football Writers Association All-New England Team. The team, selected by a committee of media relations representatives from the six conferences, honors the best Division II and III players by position in New England from the 2025 season.

Representing the Pride for the second straight season was Craig Connell (Goshen, N.Y.), while Stanford Davis (Montague, N.J.) and Tyler Sordillo (Hull, Mass.) were recognized for the first time in their careers. All three were also named to the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) First Team earlier this fall.

Sordillo has led the Springfield defense to one of its most dominant defensive seasons in program history. Individually, Sordillo has 11.5 sacks, 13.5 tackles for a loss and 52 total tackles (20 solo, 32 assist), while as a team Springfield ranks among the best in Division III allowing just 11.4 points per game, 203.5 total yards per game and 61.5 rushing yards per game. In Saturday's first round NCAA game against Cortland, Sordillo and the Springfield held the Red Dragons to its fewest points since November 24, 2012 when Cortland fell to Wesley, 56-6, in the second round of the NCAA Division III Tournament.

Davis has rushed for 782 total yards and four touchdowns this fall and has had four games of rushing for 100 yards or more. He posted a career-high 139 yards in a NEWMAC title clinching game – a 30-10 victory over Coast Guard. Davis also rushed for over a hundred yards and a touchdown against Husson and WPI in addition to his 101 yards against Norwich.

Connell paved the way for Springfield to have the nation's best rushing offense as the Pride has averaged 342.5 yards per game on the ground this year. Not only has Springfield led Division III in rushing but the Pride rank second across all NCAA Divisions including FBS, FCS, Division II and Division III only behind Harding (457.3 yards per game). Springfield ranks first nationally in time of possession (35:48) and also ranks tenth in third down conversion percentage (53.7-percent).

These three will be honored at the New England Football Writers Captains and Awards Banquet on Thursday, December 11 at the Sheraton Framingham Hotel & Conference Center in Framingham, Mass. at 6:00 pm.

Springfield (9-2) will travel to No. 8 Johns Hopkins University for the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Saturday with kickoff slated for noon on ESPN+.
