Orlando, Fla. – March 20, 2025 – The Springfield College men's tennis team split its final two matches in Florida as the Pride fell to Trinity College (Conn.), 7-0, before bouncing back for a 7-0 win over Edgewood College on Thursday at the USTA National Campus.

The Bantams earned the point in doubles action in three close matches.
Liam Huppke (Markham, Canada)and
Angelo Guzman (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) earned a 6-4 win over Pierce Rutledge and Marcus Carlsson at No. 3, but Trinity earned a 6-4 decision at No. 1 and a 6-3 decision at No. 2 to finish off doubles play.
Trinity won five of the six singles points in straight sets. Guzman was the lone Springfield student-athlete to extend his match at No. 4 ultimately falling by a 6-2, 6-7, 7-6.
Ethan Gomulka (San Bernardino, Calif.) played a tight first set with Ben Singer, but fell 7-5, 6-1 at No. 6.

Springfield swept all three doubles matches for the early 1-0 lead.
Tatsuya Kimoto (Yamaguchi, Japan) and
Waseem Sablon (Stoughton, Mass.) won 6-0 at No. 1, Guzman and Huppke won 6-0 at No. 3 and
Marc Villanueva Abad (Barcelona, Mexico) and
Micah Matsudaira (Cornwall Bridge, Conn.) won 6-2 at No. 2.
All six singles matches were decided in straight sets. Kimoto won 6-1, 6-2 at No. 1, Guzman won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 2, Gomulka won 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3,
Zach Taub (New Windsor, N.Y.) won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 4,
Marten Schalin (Taby, Sweden) won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5 and
Tim Norin (Stockholm, Sweden) won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 6.
Springfield will travel to Salve Regina University to open NEWMAC play on Sunday, March 30.
