Salem, Va. – April 28, 2025 – The fourth-ranked Springfield College men's volleyball team fell to second-ranked Southern Virginia University in straight sets, 25-20, 25-23, 27-25 in the 2025 NCAA Division III National Championship match played inside the Cregger Center on the campus of Roanoke College on Monday evening.
Playing in its tenth NCAA Division III National Championship match and first since 2022, Springfield wrapped up another outstanding season with a record of 25-5 (25-3 against Division III opponents), while Southern Virginia capped its season at 35-1 and claimed the program's first national championship title.

Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) and
Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) were named to the All-Championship Team.
Levinson led the way for Springfield with a season-high 16 kills in addition to eight digs.
Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) added six kills and eight digs, while
Chris Rouleau (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and
Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) both added five kills apiece. Mulvaney dished out 30 assists, while
Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) notched a team-best nine digs tonight.
Southern Virginia was in complete control of the first set ripping off six straight points for an early 10-3 lead. Springfield put together a run of its own that was highlighted by a block from Cutter and Mulvaney to make it 14-11, but the Knights took advantage of three straight Pride errors to regain a six point edge, 17-11. The teams traded points down the stretch before swings by Gehrig Tolman and Christian Sheaffer capped the first, 25-20.
In a back and forth second set, Cutter gave Springfield an 18-17 lead, but Southern Virginia answered with five of the next six points on three kills and an ace for a 22-19 lead. Levinson ripped off a pair of kills and drilled the ball down the line for an ace cutting Springfield's deficit to just one at 22-21, but kills by Kristo Bianchin and Sheaffer ended the second, 25-23.
Southern Virginia built a six point lead in the final set of the night at 19-13 following a swing by Jayton Hall, but Springfield didn't go away ultimately answering with a 10-3 run to take a 23-22 lead. Over the stretch, Levinson registered four kills before Rouleau knotted the score at 22 on swing through the middle. The score was tied at 24 and 25 with Springfield fending off a pair of match points, but Sheaffer and Bianchin sealed the national title for the Knights with back-to-back kills ending the night, 27-25.
