Middlebury, Vt. - September 14, 2025 - The Springfield College men's golf team opened its 2025 campaign at the Duke Nelson Invitational held at Ralph Myhre Golf Course in Vermont.

As a team, Springfield finished 17th overall in the field of 20 programs with a final score of 631 (+63).  The Pride was also the second highest finishing team from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) only behind Salem State which finished with a 629 (+60) over the two day event.

Round 1

Ryan Wood (Foxborough, Mass.) produced the best score for Springfield on Saturday with a 77 (+6) as he registered a pair of birdies and ten pars. Right behind Wood was Aidan Strebel (Branford, Conn.) and Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.) who both notched 79's on day one. Strebel recorded 11 pars, while Kumpulanian tallied a birdie on hole nine along with 11 pars. Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.)finished day one with an 81 (+10) as he posted ten pars as well. Nolan Kelly (East Longmeadow, Mass.)rounded out Springfield's five on day with an 89 (+18) as he converted three times for birdie on holes one, nine and ten.

Round 2

Ardolino bettered his round one score by five strokes on Sunday finishing with a 76 (+5) with back-to-back birdies on 16 and 17. Strebel produced a 79 (+8) with a birdie on 17 and ten pars, Wood and Kumpulanian notched 80's (+9) and Kelly finished the day with an 84 (+13).

Overall in the field of 106 student-athletes, Ardolino and Wood tied for 61st with a combined score of 157 (+15) in the two day event.

Springfield will return to action next weekend at the MASCAC Championships hosted in Uxbridge at Blissful Meadows Golf Club.
