Springfield, Mass. - October 26, 2026 - Springfield College football seniors Stanford Davis (Montague, N.J.) and Nick Gonzalez (Parsippany, N.J.) both recieved weekly awards from the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC). Davis was named the NEWMAC Offensive Athlete of the Week, while Gonzalez was named the Defensive Athlete of the Week.

Davis allowed Springfield to defeat the previously unbeaten Merchant Marine Academy, 30-12, with a trio of touchdowns. The senior scored three of the Pride's four touchdowns on the day, running for all three of them. The second touchdown was a 24-yard run which gave Springfield the 16-12 lead going into the halftime break. He totaled 110 yards on the day to go along with his three touchdowns. He is currently second in the NEWMAC in yards per game (95.4), third for total yards (668) and has the longest run of the season at 62 yards.

Gonzalez was also a major part of Springfield's win, registering 12.0 tackles, ten of which were solo, and also forcing a fumble in the first play of a Merchant Marine drive to give Springfield the ball back. He currently sits within the top ten in the conference in solo tackles with 28. This is Gonzalez's second weekly honor of the season after being named NEWMAC Special Teams Athlete of the Week earlier this year.

Davis, Gonzalez, and the Pride (6-1, 4-0 NEWMAC) will travel south to take on Coast Guard on Saturday at 12:00 pm.
