No. 3 Men's Volleyball Topples Sage in Straight Sets

Springfield, Mass. - March 10, 2026 - The third-ranked Springfield College men's volleyball team swept Sage in Blake Arena on Tuesday night by sets of 25-23, 25-16 and 25-17.

Springfield improved to 14-3 overall while Sage dropped to 7-14 on the season.

Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) led the Pride hitting .778 with eight kills, while Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) and AJ Seveland (Jenkintown, Pa.) had six kills apiece. In the balanced effort 12 different student-athletes posted at least one kill, while Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) and Dyllan Nguyen (Fountain Valley, Calif.) combined for 36 assists. Sam Levinson (LaGrange, Ill.) also notched four aces in the sweep.

It was back-and-forth in the first set, but Springfield's lead never faltered. Spurts of two points for the Pride would be the difference maker as after being tied up at seven, Springfield slowly extended its lead to four points at 17-13. Sage climbed back within one but a swing by Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) ignited a 5-2 spurt giving the Pride set point. Sage then fended off a trio of set points before an error by the Gators gave Springfield the first 25-23.

The Pride hit .556 in the second set to take the 25-16 in their largest margin of the night. Similar to the first set, the teams were all tied up at nine before Springfield went on an 11-3 run sparked by three aces from Levinson eventually putting the Pride up 20-12. Four straight errors at the service line from Sage gave Springfield set point before Durivage terminated the second with swing off the hands of Mulvaney.

In the third, Springfield took an early 11-4 lead after notching six straight points capitalizing on errors from the Gators along with kills from Seveland and Joey Preische (Penfield, N.Y.) and Seveland. The Pride kept on rolling, never letting Sage get within five as a kill from Evan Costley (Simi Valley, Calif.) ultimately gave the Pride the 25-17 win.

Springfield will head to No. 13 MIT for a crucial road tilt on Thursday at 6:00 pm.
