Softball Knocks Off No. 13 UW-Oshkosh and Keene State to Complete Florida Slate

Clermont, Fla. – March 19, 2026 – The Springfield College softball team capped its trip to Florida with a pair of wins at The Spring Games. The Pride opened with a come from behind win over 13th-ranked Wisconsin-Oshkosh before Springfield took down Keene State, 8-3, in the nightcap.

Springfield, which earned its second win over a ranked team of the season, improved to 6-3 and will return home to take on Eastern Connecticut State University on Tuesday at 2:30 in a non-conference twinbill from Potter Field.

Springfield 3, No. 13 UW-Oshkosh 2

Springfield pushed across the first run of the game in the bottom of the third. With one out, Taylor Falotico (Windsor, Conn.) singled and came all the way around to score on a double to right center from Amelia DeRosa (Miller Place, N.Y.). Oshkosh starter Grace Nardi, however, got out of the bases loaded jam to leave the Pride with just a single run.

Oshkosh responded in the top of the fourth and took advantage of a Springfield error to take a 2-1 edge. With runners on second and third, Sarah Hammerton drove in both to push the Titans ahead. Just as Nardi did in the third, DeRosa was able to get out of a bases loaded situation to leave the score at 2-1 through four.

After DeRosa set down the Titans 1-2-3 in the fifth and the sixth, Springfield returned to bat in the bottom of the sixth and quickly loaded the bases on a walk and back-to-back singles by Madison King (Burlington, Mass.) and Emilia Santiago (West Hartford, Conn.) with nobody out. After Brianna Bougie got the first two outs of the frame – still with the bases loaded – DeRosa blooped a single to right plating both King and Santiago as the Pride forged ahead 3-2.

DeRosa returned to the circle in the seventh and set the Titans down in order ultimately retiring the final ten batters of the game to secure Springfield's second win over a ranked opponent of the Spring. DeRosa surrendered just two hits and two unearned runs to a high-powered Oshkosh offense and struck out three in today's first game.

At the plate, DeRosa went 3-for-4 with all three of Springfield's RBI in the victory. King also notched two of the Pride's eight hits this morning.

The last time Springfield defeated a team that was ranked as high as Oshkosh was today was back in 2022 when the Pride took down ninth-ranked Eastern Connecticut State University.

Springfield 8, Keene State 3

Springfield put up three runs in the top of the first inning and never looked back en route to the X-X victory and the Thursday sweep. Carissa Pecchia (Mamaroneck, N.Y.) started the scoring with a sacrifice fly before Haley Ball (Westbrook, Maine) came across on an errant throw. Two batters later, Madi Testo (Keene, N.H.) drove in Kate Katsetos (Brewster, N.Y.) with her first collegiate hit and RBI to make it 3-0.

Keene State threatened in the bottom of the frame and loaded the bases, but Springfield starter Julia Rimshnick (Staten Island, N.Y.) got out of the innings leaving the Pride up three through one.

Pecchia then drove in Reilly Hunter (Wallingford, Conn.) in the third on a single up the middle to make it 4-0. Hunter belted a double off the wall in left center and then stole third to set up Pecchia's RBI opportunity. Testo then plated her second run of the game with another wall ball double that brought in Pecchia as the Pride went ahead 5-0 through two and a half. Keene got one back in the bottom of the frame.

With the bases loaded in the fourth, Katsetos plated DeRosa and Sammy Swords (Plano, Texas) to forge ahead by a 7-1 score. DeRosa registered her fourth RBI of the day as she plated pinch hitter Maddie Tse (Glenville, N.Y.) in the fifth.

Keene State got two runs back in the bottom of the fifth, but Rimshnick returned to the circle and set the Owls down in order in the sixth with a trio of flyouts and three of the four batters she faced in the final frame securing the 8-3 win in the team's final game in Florida.

Seven Springfield batters produced two or more hits and were led by a trio of knocks from DeRosa. Hunter, Katesetos, King, Testo and Falotico all notched two hits against Keene State, while Pecchia, Katestos and Testo all recorded a pair of RBI.

In the circle, Rimshnick picked up the win for the Pride (2-1) going the complete seven, scattering five hits and striking out four.

The Pride wrap up the Florida slate with a record of 5-2 and will head home with an overall mark of 6-3 on the season.
