Springfield, Mass. – March 25, 2026 – Springfield College's
Amanda Leary (Westbury, N.Y.) and
Carrie Hess (Shrewsbury, Mass.) will represent the women's basketball program in the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) Senior All-Star Classic, which will be hosted by Smith College on Saturday, March 28 at 4:00 pm.
Leary, a NEWMAC All-Conference Second Team selection, averaged a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game and a second-best 11.5 points per game while tallying a team-high 50 steals and adding 12 blocks. Leary averaged 7.2 rebounds per game in conference play which was ninth in the NEWMAC. She also registered four double-doubles and three 20-points games including a 25-point performance with 14 rebounds to lead the Pride to a win over Colby as she was named the Naismith Classic Tournament Most Valuable Player.
Hess, in 27 games this season, averaged 10.8 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game totaling 291 points and 119 rebounds. In 11 conference contests, Hess was Springfield's second best shooter averaging 9.8 points per game and 4.4 rebounds per game. The senior had a career-night against Lasell back in December totaling 29 points on a 13-for-19 performance from the floor. She also pulled down a season-high nine rebounds against Middlebury at the Chuck Resler Tournament to begin the campaign.
Leary and Hess guided Springfield into the NEWMAC Championship Tournament Semifinal round after a 64-50 road quarterfinal victory at MIT. The Pride totaled 16 wins and six in conference play under the direction of head coach
Naomi Graves.
