Thomas Earns 100th Career Win as Women's Lacrosse Downs Mount Holyoke in Wednesday Night NEWMAC Tilt

South Hadley, Mass. – April 1, 2026 – Head Coach Jenn Thomas '13 picked up the 100th win of her career as the Springfield College women's lacrosse team rolled past Mount Holyoke, 18-7, in NEWMAC action on Wednesday evening on the road.

Thomas, who came to Springfield from Johnson & Wales University (RI), has now totaled 44 wins on Alden Street to go along with 21 wins at JWU and 35 wins at Western Connecticut State University to reach the 100 career win plateau. Since coming to Alden Street, Thomas and the Pride have produced 11 or more wins in each of her first three seasons highlighted by a 15-5 mark in 2024.

Tonight, Springfield improved to 4-6 overall and to and to 2-2 in conference play, while Mount Holyoke dropped to 5-4, 1-4.

Springfield was led by Izzy Lalancette (Feeding Hills, Mass.), who posted four goals. Sophie Adams (Wethersfield, Conn.)Claire Ognibene (New Canaan, Conn.) and Liz Neri (Farmington, Conn.) all recorded hat tricks for the Pride as well, while Olivia Zalinsky (Bethany, Conn.) ended the day with four points on two goals and two helpers. Molly Forrest (Wakefield, Mass.), Lalancette and Hailey Gaydos (Newington, Conn.) combined for 14 draw controls, while the aforementioned trio also all caused two turnovers apiece.

As a team, Springfield held the edge in shots (39-9), ground balls (26-15) and draw controls (16-10).

Springfield tallied the first three goals of the game on a pair of unassisted strikes by Lalancette and a goal by Neri before the Lyons capitalized midway through the first quarter. Lalancette completed her hat trick with 3:29 left in the opening quarter before Ognibene capped the scoring the for the Pride to lead 5-1 through 15 minutes. Springfield went on to outscore Mount Holyoke 8-1 in the second for a 13-2 advantage at the break.

In the second quarter alone, Springfield saw six different student-athletes find the back of the net with Zalinsky and Neri both scoring twice for the Pride before halftime. Imhof started the scoring in the third off a feed from Adams, but both squads totaled five goals over the final 30 minutes of play en route to the 18-7 final.

Springfield returns home to take on nationally-ranked Babson College on Saturday at 1:00 pm.
