NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! No. 1 Men's Volleyball Sweeps Carthage To Claim Program's Sixth NCAA Title

Springfield, Mass. – April 25, 2026 – For the sixth time in program history and the first time since 2017, the Springfield College men's volleyball finished atop the Division III world and claimed the 2026 NCAA National Championship title. Tonight, the Pride knocked off third-ranked Carthage in straight sets in front of 2,000 inside Blake Arena.

Springfield, which won by scores of 29-27, 25-21, 25-16, finishes its 2026 season with a record of 25-3. After the match, Jake DesLauriers (Eastport, N.Y.) and Ricardo Ortiz (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) were named to the All-Tournament Team, while Dylan Mulvaney (Reston, Va.) was named as the Tournament's Most Valuable Player. Carthage, which appeared in its fourth NCAA title match and first since 2022, caps its season with a record of 25-4.

DesLauriers led the Springfield attack with 16 kills and hit .406 tonight, while Carter Durivage (East Greenbush, N.Y.) notched 11 kills and eight digs and Will Kirchhoff (Macedon, N.Y.) hit a blistering .778 with seven kills on nine swings and posted six blocks. Ortiz led the Pride with nine digs, while Mulvaney dished out 41 assists for an offense that produced 48 kills and hit .344. Springfield also held Carthage to a season-low .211 hitting percentage and to just 33 total kills, its second-lowest output of the campaign.

Brennan Cutter (Trumbull, Conn.) put Springfield on the board in the first set before the Pride forged ahead 8-4 following back-to-back blocks. Swings by Kirchhoff and DesLauriers held off the Carthage offense that was able to climb back within one at 12-11. Carthage was eventually able to gain the lead at 21-19 following a siwng by Ryan Monahan and had set point at 24-22 after a kill from Ben Heise. Durivage's offense kept the first set alive and Springfield had its first set point at 25-24, but Carthage didn't back down trading points with the Pride until the first was even at 27. Monahan served the ball into the net and a swing by Durivage terminated the first as the Pride won it 29-27.

Springfield went on to hit a match-high .444 with 15 kills on 27 swings in the middle set. Durivage put the Pride ahead 7-4. The two sides traded points before Levinson extended Springfield's lead to four. Back-to-back swings by Heise ignited a run that saw Carthage tie the match at 15, but Springfield responded with a 5-1 spurt of its own to take control of the second. An ace by AJ Seveland (Jenkintown, Pa.) capped the run before Kirchhoff blasted the ball through the middle to win the middle set 25-21.

Springfield led 14-13 midway through the third, but two straight kills from Kirchhoff propelled the Pride's offense to the national championship as Springfield scored ten of the final 13 points of the match. A kill from DesLauriers and an ace by Kirchhoff set up match point before Durivage belted the ball off the hands of the block lifting the Pride to its sixth NCAA Division III National Championship title.
