Women's Volleyball Completes Reverse Sweep Against Oneonta

Hoboken, N.J. — September 18, 2026 — The Springfield College women's volleyball team came back to reverse sweep Oneonta 3-2 by set scores of 23-25, 28-30, 25-19, 25-22, 15-13 on Friday evening.

With the win, the Pride remain undefeated and move to 8-0 while the Red Dragons move to 3-9.

Four different student-athletes had kills in double figures as Ahunna James (Plainville, Mass.) led the Pride in her first game back with 13 kills while also registering eight digs. Alexa Bonato (Orange, Conn.) had 11 kills, nine digs and four blocks while Zakiya Hiatt (Calgary, AB) and Jodi Saelua (Mililani, Hawaii) each had 10 kills. Hiatt also had eight digs as Saelua notched six blocks.

Tori Colosimo (Fairport, N.Y.) filled the box score with 50 assists, nine digs, seven kills, five blocks and three service aces while Karenna Allain (Woodbridge, Conn.) had two service aces and 16 digs.

In the first set, Springfield hit its lowest of the game while Oneonta hit a match-best .318 hitting percentage. It was a back-and-forth start to the match but the Red Dragons were able to pull it out, capitalizing on a Springfield error and finishing the set with a kill from Keira Welsh, 25-23.

The Red Dragons took an early lead and continued to add more until they led 18-13. Springfield then started to chip away, scoring four unanswered points highlighted by a kill and service ace from Avery Chandler (Stoneville, N.C.). Oneonta then matched that run, scoring four consecutive points of their own, but both teams did not give up as the set saw match point six different times before Oneonta eventually got the win, 30-28.

With the set tied at 13, back-to-back kills from James gave Springfield the momentum to go on and outscore Oneonta 12-6 to get the win and force a fourth set. Errors from the Red Dragons helped Springfield take a few points as Hiatt sealed the win with a kill, 25-19.

Springfield was down for almost the entirety of the fourth set before two straight kills from Bonato and Gabbie Weissgarber (Colorado Springs, Colo.) tied it a 21. The Pride then scored four straight points and the win was sealed after an attack error from the Red Dragons, 25-22.

It was a back-and-forth fifth set and a late three-point spurt for Springfield would help push the Pride past the Red Dragons. A kill and then a service ace from Weissgarber gave Springfield the 12-11 lead before kills from James made it 14-12. Colosimo ended the set with a kill to give the Pride the comeback win and complete the reverse sweep.

The Pride will face Stevens and William Paterson tomorrow at 1:30 pm and 4:00 pm, respectively.
