Springfield, Mass. — September 26, 2026 — The Springfield College men's golf team sits in third after the first day of the 2026 Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference (MASCAC) Golf Championship.

Playing the par 72 course that measured 6,500 yards, Springfield registered a first round score of 318 (+30). Marymount leads after the first day with a 313 (+25), Salem State is in second with a 315 (+7) and Kean is in third with a 327 (+39). Westfield State is in fourth with a 334 (+46), Worcester State is in sixth with a 342 (+54) and MCLA is in seventh with a 343 (+55). The winner of the two-day event will earn the conference's bid into the 2027 NCAA Division III Championships, which will be held May 18-21 at Kingsmill Resort in Williamsburg, Va. 

Individually, Matthew Kumpulanian (Wilbraham, Mass.) led the whole field as he registered a day one score of 72 for first place. He opened up the day with a birdie on the 301-yard par four first hole and then notched three three more throughout the day while registering 10 pars. 

Amir Ardolino (Wilbraham, Mass.) is tied for 14th and registered a score of 81 (+9). He notched ten pars and, along with the rest of his teammates, birdied the par 474-yard third hole to round out his first day of the championship. Nolan Kelly (East Longmeadow, Mass.) is in 18th with a score of 82 (+10) also with ten pars and Sean O'Neill (East Longmeadow, Mass.) was right behind Kelly, tied for 19th with a score of 83 (+11) with two birdies and eight pars.

Ryan Wood (Foxborough, Mass.) rounds out the Pride in 30th with a score of 91 (+19) with nine pars after the first day. 

The Pride will begin the second round on Saturday at 10:00 am at the Veterans Memorial Golf Course.
