What is the best way to be evaluated for the team?
We typically hold ID clinics in the first week of August and/or beginning of April, and we encourage you to attend so that our coaching staff can assess your skill set in person. When we offer ID clinics you will see announcements on our social media pages, the men's soccer page, and through email.Â

SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE: Growth in SPIRIT – MIND – BODY, for leadership in service to others
Since 1885, Springfield College has made a difference in the world. We focus on helping students develop the whole person so they can serve as leaders in their communities, organizations, companies–wherever their next steps take them. Couple that with our men's soccer program beginning in 1906, which makes it one of the oldest college soccer programs in the United States, and you realize what a special place Springfield College is. Â
NEWMAC and New England
Springfield College competes against some of the top teams in the region within the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference, while our non-conference schedule is filled with teams from throughout New England, which is regarded as the most competitive region for Division III men's soccer in the nation.  NEWMAC matches are within a 2-hour drive from Springfield, with all opponents residing in Massachusetts and Connecticut.
Positions
We are always evaluating juniors and seniors in high school at the same time. We will be recruiting 5 to 8 players in the class of 2025 high school graduates.  We prefer to recruit versatile players who can play multiple positions to help us be successful. Although subject to change, for the class of 2025, we will be targeting prospects that play center midfield, center back, outside back or fullback, and we will be looking for one goalkeeper. We always receive outreach from sophomores in high school, and while we encourage this, we will be primarily evaluating high school juniors and seniors going forward.Â
The Recruitment Process
The team taking the field in the fall is chosen through the recruitment process as opposed to open tryouts when school starts, although open tryouts are offered in the spring. Therefore, timing and communication become very important. Below are some steps to help guide you through the recruiting process.Â
A. REACH OUT: Fill out our online questionnaire so we will have your information. This is important as it's shared with our Admissions Office.
B. SEND US YOUR HIGHLIGHTS: Sharing video of your play can be very helpful, although we typically don't make decisions based on video alone.Â
C. SHARE YOUR SCHEDULE WITH US: Attending tournaments? Playing in high school tournament games? All-star games? College camps? Tell us when, where, and how to best to find you (uniform number and field location).
D. FOLLOW UP: Follow up your questionnaire with a personal e-mail to menssoccer@springfieldcollege.edu. A member of our staff will respond as soon as possible.Â
E. ATTEND A CLINIC: The coaching staff attends many ID clinics and camps to evaluate players between May and August. We encourage you to share with us what camps or clinics you will be attending. It's a great way for you to get a feel for our program as well as for us to evaluate your skill set. In the past, the coaching staff has attended camps at the following colleges: UMASS Amherst, Fairfield, UConn, Amherst, Williams, Dartmouth, Yale, Princeton, Notre Dame, and Lehigh.Â
F. CAMPUS VISIT: We will do our best to try to meet with you while you're here. Please contact our admissions office to set up your visit, and let them know you are interested in meeting with a member of our coaching staff.  Visit our Admissions website for a composite calendar of information sessions and campus tours.
G. SEE A MATCH: Sometimes seeing a match can serve as a great way to get to know the program. If you decide to visit for a match, feel free to make the coaching staff aware ahead of time.
TIMELINES FOR APPLICATIONS
While Springfield College operates under rolling admissions, some programs have application deadlines earlier than others. Please visit our admissions website to get a better understanding of standards, requirements and application timelines. It is strongly recommended to discuss the major(s) you are interested in with the coaching staff. Should you become a recruit of high interest to the coaching staff, during the summer going into your senior year, the coaching staff may request to see your transcripts, any standardized test scores you've received, and your senior year class schedule, to potentially produce a likely-letter and/or pre-awarding letter through the men's soccer admissions liaison. If you interested in what other Springfield College men's soccer student-athletes major in, check our our roster page for examples!
