Springfield College Director of Athletics, Dr. Craig Poisson, is pleased to announce that Brooke Szafran has been named as the full-time assistant coach for the Springfield College field hockey program.

"I can't wait to get started this preseason," said Szafran. "I'm eager to use my knowledge of the game to help us make a splash in the NEWMAC."

Szafran comes to Alden Street from Division II American International College (AIC) where she completed both her bachelor's degree in marketing and her master's degree in business administration.

"Brooke's enthusiasm and energy were evident throughout the interview process," said Poisson. "I am looking forward to her contributions in all facets of our field hockey program in a very competitive NEWMAC conference."

Szafran was a four-year student-athlete on AIC's field hockey team serving as a captain during her senior season. She was also honored four times by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) as Szafran earned nods to the All-Academic Squad each of her seasons with the program.

"We are pleased to welcome Brooke to the field hockey staff as full-time assistant coach," said head coach Mia Olsen. "Brooke brings experience in Division II, a strong work ethic and enthusiasm. We are excited to see her impact with our program."

In 60 career games as a midfielder at AIC, Szafran scored six goals and added six assists for 18 points. She registered career highs in both goals and points during her final season in 2024.
