Springfield College

Mia Olsen will enter her fifth season as the head coach of the field hockey team and assistant professor of physical education at Springfield College during the 2026-27 academic year. 

In her past four seasons with the Pride, she has led the team to a postseason appearance each year and advanced to the semifinals of the NEWMAC Field Hockey Championship in 2023 and 2025. Olsen has also helped her student-athletes to eight All-Conference selections, three NFHCA All-Region selections, four All-ECAC Field Hockey Team members, and four CSC At-Large Academic All-District selections. Olsen has also produced one NEWMAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Year and one ECAC Division III Field Hockey Rookie of the Year. 

In 2025, Olsen led Springfield to a 13-7 record, the most wins the Pride have produced since the 2017 season. Olsen's student-athletes took home several postseason awards, headlined by Rachel Simkewicz, who became the fifth NEWMAC Rookie of the Year in program history and the first since 2018. She was also named the 2025 ECAC Division III Field Hockey Rookie of the Year, and took home All-Conference First Team and NFHCA All-Region I First Team honors. Olsen's team ultimately received three All-Conference nods and two All-ECAC selections, and also received the 2025 NFHCA National Academic Team Award, with 25 student-athletes receiving individual national academic recognition. 

A graduate of Trinity College, Olsen most recently served as assistant coach at Amherst College and previously served as an assistant coach at Westfield State University.

Olsen was a field hockey student-athlete at Trinity College where she graduated in 2017.  During her time with the Bantams, Olsen served as a captain and led her squad to an appearance in the 2016 NCAA Division III Championship Tournament.  She made 62 appearances as a three-year starter in her career.

While earning a Master's from Westfield State, Olsen transitioned to the sidelines, where she served as an assistant coach of the Owls for three years. In that time, Westfield State made their second-ever appearance in Little East Conference Championship game.  She also gained valuable experience as a coach and site director for HTC Field Hockey Club in Connecticut.

Olsen will take over a Springfield College field hockey program that has a deep and storied tradition.  For a program that dates back to 1963, Olsen is just the fifth head coach in Springfield field hockey history and only the third since 1970.
