Box Score

Williamstown, Mass. - November 25, 2014 - Junior guard Heather Lewis (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) posted a season-high 14 points, but the Springfield College women's basketball team fell to No. 13 Williams College 62-46 on Tuesday evening at Chandler Gym.

Having played a pair of nationally-ranked teams in back-to-back games to start the 2014-15 season, the defending New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC)-champion Pride fall to 0-3 on the year, having also lost last Saturday to No. 14 NYU. With the win, the Ephs remain unbeaten at 6-0 to kick off the season.

The Pride shot 17-for-59 (28.8%) in the contest, while Williams was 22-for-58 (37.9%) at games end. Senior forward Jaimie Bickelhaupt (Brookfield, Conn.) was impressive for the Pride, posting eight points and nine rebounds for the visitors, while sophomore center Ava Adamopoulos (Ludlow, Mass.) was key off the bench for the Pride, adding seven points and six boards.

Williams started the game on a 10-0 run, capped off by a lay-up from Devon Caveney (Andover, Mass.), but was halted by a three-pointer from senior guard Riley Fake (Brockport, N.Y.) for the Pride's first points of the contest. From there, Springfield battled back into the contest, cutting its deficit to just a pair after a triple from Bickelhaupt.

Jumping out to another big lead, the Ephs went on a 7-2 run to give the hosts a 17-10 lead after a made free-throw from Amanni Fernandez (Queens, N.Y.), but once again, the Pride caught fire and crawled back into the game, evening the score at 17 apiece following a jumper from Lewis.

Williams cut open the tie to take a 24-18 lead late in the opening half following a lay-up from Caveney, but Springfield remained close, ending the first half with four-straight points from Lewis to end the stanza 28-24, Ephs.

After back-and-forth action to begin the second frame, the Ephs held a three-point lead after a lay-up from freshman forward Heather King (Lebanon, N.H.), but a jumper from Ellen Cook (Eugene, Ore.) sent Williams on a 7-0 run, resulting in a 41-33 lead with 8:53 to go.

Holding a 56-38 lead with 3:41 remaining in the contest, after a three from Caveney, the Pride rattled off eight-straight points, including back-to-back three-pointers from Bickelhaupt and sophomore guard Lexi Windwer (Milton, Mass.) to cut the deficit to 10.

The Pride could not hang with the Ephs in the waning minutes, resulting in a 62-46 final.
