Springfield, Mass. – September 25, 2014 – The Springfield College women's tennis team's three-match winning streak was halted by Nichols College this afternoon as the Bison defeated the Pride, 9-0, in non-conference play at Appleton Courts.

With the loss, the Pride move to 3-4, while Nichols moves to 8-2 on the year

Freshman Rachel Litchfield (Northbridge, Mass.) continued her strong play at both No. 3 doubles and No. 3 singles, but was just short of victory.  In doubles, Litchfield battled alongside Stephani Post (Westford, Mass.) but fell 8-5 against Ashely Dallaire and Daniella Saldarriaga.

Junior Melanie Thulin (Manchester Center) also had a notable outing at No.4 singles, posting a 6-4, 6-1 loss.

The Pride will resume New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action on Tuesday when it plays host to Smith at 4:00 pm.
