Women's Tennis Pulls Out 6-3 Victory Over Emerson

Middleton, Mass. - April 17, 2018 - The Springfield College women's tennis team pulled out an important 6-3 win over Emerson College on Tuesday at the Northeast Tennis Center in New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) action.  

Springfield snapped their four-match slide to improve to 7-6, 2-4 in conference play.

Opening up the day in doubles play, Springfield earned a pair of points as Rachel Litchfield (Northbridge, Mass.) and Rachel Ahlmeyer (Morris Plains, N.J.) delivered an 8-4 win at No. 2 and the duo of Melissa Parrish (Framingham, Mass.) and Hailey Higgins (New Marlborough, Mass.) prevailed by an 8-5 decision at No. 3.

Higgins breezed her way to a 6-1, 6-1 triumph at No. 6 singles, while Ahlmeyer picked up a 6-0, 6-2 win at No. 5.  Emily Etter (Guilford, Conn.) turned in a 6-1, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles, and Parrish registered a 6-3, 6-1 victory at No. 4 singles to round out the Pride's scoring in the win.

The Pride will return to campus for a match against MIT on Saturday at 10:30 am.
