Box Score

Keene, N.H. - September 7, 2019 - The Springfield College field hockey team netted the final three goals of regulation and used an overtime winner from Taylor Low (Longmeadow, Mass.) to topple Keene State, 5-4, on Saturday afternoon.

The win improved Springfield's record to 2-1 on the year, while the Owls dropped to 1-2.  For the game, Springfield held a commanding 25-14 advantage in shots and a 9-3 cushion in penalty corners.

Springfield fell behind 2-0 in the opening nine-plus minutes of the first quarter thanks to a pair of goals from Keene State's Kayla Klein before Audrey Bresciano (Greenfield, Mass.) netted her first collegiate goal at the 12:40 mark.  Klein would get her hat trick just over three minutes later, and then assist on a goal by Ellie Hunkins at 25:18 to give the hosts a 4-1 advantage at the halftime break.

The Pride would methodically chip away at the lead, with Lily Depew (Acton, Mass.) finishing off a Kirsten Oliver (Vernon Center, N.Y.) feed at 41:26 for the lone goal of the third quarter.  Just over five minutes into the fourth Emma Wesoloski (South Deerfield, Mass.) found the back of the cage off an assist by Kyra Ashe (Longmeadow, Mass.) to make it a one-goal game, and Holly Rivers (Danbury, Conn.) tied the game up with under two minutes left in regulation.

In the extra session, Springfield maintined the majority of possession and Low sealed the comeback with her first goal of the season at the 63:10 mark. Elizabeth Morehouse (North Attleboro, Mass.) made five saves in net to earn the win for the Pride.

The Pride will return home to host Fitchburg State at 6 pm on Tuesday evening.
