West Chester, Pa. - February 1, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team put together a season-best score in a tri-meet against West Chester and Rhode Island College on Saturday afternoon.
Springfield produced a 187.700 while West Chester tallied a 190.7500 and Rhode Island College scored a 179.100.
The Pride took to the bars first and finished with a season-high 46.300. Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) and Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) each performed a season-best routine and tallied a score of 9.600, which tied the teammates for fourth in the competition. Alana Calabrese (West Hartford, Conn.) finished with a 9.1000 and Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) followed with a 9.0250 in the event.
Springfield had the highest team score of the meet on the beam with Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) sticking her routine and earning a 9.6500 for the second place. King followed with a 9.5250 while Murphy hit a 9.5000 flat and Sophie Parquet (Stow, Mass.) finished seventh with a 9.3500. Sipes rounded out the Top-10 with a 9.2000 in the event.
Competing in her first floor event of the competitive season, Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) hit a routine that elevated her to fifth in the event with a 9.6250. Campagnone finished with a 9.5000 score and Dominique Chaves (Hudson, Mass.) turned in a 9.3750 routine for the Pride.
On the vault,
Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) stuck a hand front tuck for a strong 9.6750 score. Rushlow gave another impressive effort on the vault with a fourth-place finish and a 9.525 score.
Tabby Schwab (Wilks-Barre, Pa.) placed seventh overall on the event with a 9.4000 score.
Springfield will host Ithaca and Ursinius next Sunday.
