Springfield, Mass. - February 23, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics program earned another victory over Rhode Island College on Sunday afternoon in Blake Arena.
Springfield produced a team score of 186.650 while Rhode Island College posted a 179.600.
In the first event of the day, Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) and Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) each produced a 9.550 score after landing strong routines. Kaitlyn Lindsay (West Boylston, Mass.) followed with a 9.250 score and Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) notched a 9.175 in the event.
On the uneven bars, Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) put together a 9.500 performance for the Pride's top score while Alana Calabrese (West Hartford, Conn.) followed just behind with a 9.475. Both Lena Morant (Gambrills, Md.) and Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) hit a 9.400 routine. Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) rounded out the Pride's top five finishers by turning in an 8.925. Springfield's top five represented the best scores in the event.
Following the uneven bars was the beam, where Springfield earned a team score of a 46.000 flat. Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) registered the highest score for the Pride, hitting a 9.350 routine. Sophie Parquet (Stow, Mass.) earned a 9.300 in the event followed by Sipes and Campagnone registering 9.350 and 9.250, respectively.
The floor exercise was the Pride's strongest event of the afternoon earning a team score of 47.400, which was the highest team score in the meet for any event. Rushlow shined on her routine claiming the top-spot with a 9.675 score. Twomey impressed with a score of 9.650 while Camapagnone continued her consistent efforts with a 9.550 score for the Pride. Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.) turned in a 9.275 to round out the Pride's top scorers in the event.
Springfield will now prepare for a tri-meet with Ithaca and Cortland next Sunday at 1 pm.
