Women's Gymnastics Prevails Against Ithaca and Ursinus

Springfield, Mass. - February 9, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics team hosted Ithaca College and Ursinus College on Sunday afternoon in Blake Arena.   The Pride turned in a season-best score of 189.925, which earned Springfield the victory. Ursinus followed with a 188.950 team score while Ithaca finished third with a 186.3250.

On the first event of the afternoon, Springfield scored a 46.800 on the vault with Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) leading the way with a 9.550 score, which placed Rushlow second in the event. Tabby Schwab (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) completed a 9.425 routine and Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) debuted on the event and finished with a score of 9.325. Kaitlyn Lindsay (West Boylston, Mass.) and Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) each registered scores of 9.250 for the Pride. 

Sipes and Alana Calabrese (West Hartford, Conn.) led the Pride on the bars with scores of 9.500. Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) followed up her teammates with a performance that earned a score of 9.475, placing her in the top-five in the event. Springfield turned in a team score of 46.825 in the event. 

The Pride finished with all five scores above a 9.500 on the beam earning a season-high team score of 47.875. King put together 9.675 for Springfield's top score, putting the Psychology/Art Therapy major third overall in the event. Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) and Schwab each tallied a 9.600 score while Sophie Parquet (Stow, Mass.) and Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) registered 9.500 to round out the Pride's scores in the event. 

On the floor, the Pride turned in another season-high with a team score of 48.425. Springfield boasted four of the top five best scores in the event with Twomey adding yet another remarkable routine to her career as the senior delivered a 9.825 score. Campagnone finished second behind Twomey with a 9.7500 and Rushlow came in third with a 9.7250 while MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) followed with a 9.700, which tied a career-high. 

The Pride will hit the road next Saturday as they compete against Rhode Island College at 1 pm.
