Cortland, N.Y. - March 1, 2020 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics program competed with Ithaca College and SUNY Cortland on Sunday afternoon in the Whitney T. Corey Gymnasium, and Springfield totaled a meet-high score of 188.875. Ithaca finished second in 187.500 and Cortland placed third with a 186.925.
Starting the day on the beam, the Pride claimed a team score of 47.425. Sara King (Maribor, Slovenia) put together an impressive effort with a 9.750 routine that proved to be a career-best mark and allowed her to place first in the event. Sophie Parquet (Stow, Mass.) and Sarah Murphy (Norwell, Mass.) followed by each tallying a 9.475 while Taylor Campagnone (Johnston, R.I.) rounded out the Pride's top finishers with a 9.425.
On the floor, both Tali Twomey (Cotuit, Mass.) and Campagnone led the Pride with energetic routines scoring a 9.650 and 9.625, respectively. Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) tied for seventh place with a 9.575 and Victoria Gendreau (Warren, R.I.) turned in the same score on her routine while Parquet finished out the top five finishers for Springfield with a 9.375.
Springfield was led by a tremendous performance on the vault from Ali Rushlow (Worcester, Mass.) as the junior turned in a top score of 9.550. Tabby Schwab (Wilkes-Barre, Pa.) produced a 9.450, which tied a career-high mark. Taylor Jackson (Ocean, N.J.) and Twomey each posted a 9.375 contributing to the team score of 47.000 flat. Finishing on the bars, the Pride earned a 46.650 team score, as King added another strong performance with a winning score of 9.575, and Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.) produced a 9.425.
Springfield will compete with Ithaca again next weekend at 1pm on Saturday, March 7.
