It didn't take long for the Pride to regain the lead as Smith struck again 56 seconds later, at 14:49, off a feed from Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.), which gave Springfield the 2-1 lead. In the 70th-minute, Suppicich had a chance tapped away by Stall and Walker's rebound attempt was also blocked by Stall, which left the score sitting at 2-1. After that sequence, the Cougars were awarded a corner kick that Sarah Berube placed in the box and connected with Jamie Joseph for the header score, which tied the game at two apiece with 70:45 on the clock. Springfield looked for the potential game-winner in the 82nd-minute as Smith broke away again, however Stall got a finger on the ball and redirected the shot. The Pride defense would make a stand in the 89th-minute blocking a shot from Isabel Echeverry and forcing extra time.
