Box Score Providence, R.I. - November 5, 2022 - The Springfield College women's soccer program lost on the road to Ivy League-leading Brown University on Saturday afternoon at Stevenson-Pincince Field.
This was the first time in program history that the Pride went up against the Bears. Springfield records drops to 8-8-1 to finish the season and Brown jumps to 12-2-2. The scheduling of the game came after the cancelation of the Brown vs. Yale Ivy League finale that was originally supposed to serve as Brown's senior day.
It took the Bears seven attempts to find the back of the net as the Pride hung in tough defensive for the first part of the half. At 18:37, Sonia Dugger (Belchertown, Mass.) helped get in front of a Brown attempt, but Brittany Raphino delivered a rebound goal to the top right to put Brown ahead 1-0 in the 19th-minute. The Bears posted two more goals to widen the gap to 3-0 before the half.
Brown poured on two more goals to reach a 5-0 lead at 53:11, and reached a 6-0 total in the 62nd-minute off a goal from Hayley Houston. Springfield was able to stop the unanswered streak in the 74th-minute as Kaleigh Dale (Mansfield, Conn.) punched in the Pride's first goal of the contest. The Bears responded with another strike at 76:19, but the Pride would cap off the contest with another goal from Dale as the Business Management major put in a free kick to the top left corner in the 83rd-minute to give Springfield its second score. The late goal helped Dale rewrite the record book for the second time this season as the senior became the all-time leader in points with 128 surpassing the mark set by Angela Schofield in 1992.
