Keene, N.H. - September 3, 2022 - In their first game of the 2022 season, the Springfield College field hockey team battled its way to a 2-1 win at Keene State in non-conference play.  Head coach Mia Olsen picked up her first victory at the helm of the Pride in her head coaching debut. 

Springfield held a 14-10 advantage in shots, including a 9-2 margin in the opening 30 minutes of play. Keene State took 13 penalty corners compared to eight by the Pride and the Owls registered nine saves between the pipes.  For the Pride, Savanna Harvey (Cumberland, Maine) made three saves in her first collegiate action. 

After a scoreless first quarter, Audrey Hayes (Oxford, Mass.) delivered her first collegiate strike as she broke through for the game's first goal in the 22nd minute.  Springfield, which outshot the hosts by an 8-0 margin in the frame, headed into the half with a 1-0 advantage. 

The Owls responded with their only goal of the afternoon at the 41:06 on an unassisted goal by Hailey Patridge as the two teams entered the fourth quarter knotted up at a goal apiece.  However, Springfield was award a corner inside the first minute of the fourth, and Nicolette Morlock (Rexford, N.Y.) was able to bury what would prove to be the game winner off a feed from Audrey Bresciano (Greenfield, Mass.) as the Pride prevailed with a 2-1 triumph. 

Springfield will host Worcester State on Thursday in their home opener at 7 pm on Stagg Field.
