New Haven, Conn. - January 21, 2023 - The Springfield College women's gymnastics delivered their best score of the season as the finished second in a tri-meet with Southern Connecticut State and Rhode Island College on Saturday.
SCSU would lead the three-team field with a 189.950, while the Pride notched a 187.125 to outdistance RIC's third-place mark of 183.175 .
Springfield's highest event score of the day came on the vault as it produced a mark of 47.375. Annie Kiley (Taneytown, Md.) and Stacy Taylor (Biddeford, Maine) each registered scores of 9.575 to tie for third place, while Sage Kaplan (Auburn, Mass.) was credited with a 9.525 to take sixth in the event.
Highlighting Springfield's team score of 46.500 on the uneven bars was Tori Sipes (Windham, N.H.), as she was the runner-up with a 9.725. Winter Osborne's (Fairbanks, Alaska) finished in fourth place after earning a 9.575, and Kiley closely followed in fifth with a 9.300.
Rae Anna Schutz (Mays Landing, N.J.) had Springfield's best showing on the balance beam and recorded a 9.550 to take fifth place. Maya Belog (Sturbridge, Mass.) was credited with a 9.500 and Sipes turned in a 9.325. The Pride had two student-athletes in the top five on the floor, as Christina Wygonik (Wading River, N.Y.) tied for third with a 9.650 and Devon Rosier (Hudson, N.H.) notched a 9.575 for fifth-place honors. MacKenzie MacLeod (Kennebunk, Maine) added a 9.475 to aid in the Pride's event score of 47.200.
Next Saturday, Springfield travels to take on Brockport in a 2 pm tilt.
