Box Score Springfield, Mass. – October 14, 2023 – The Springfield College women's soccer team was clipped by Emerson College, 2-0, in a New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) contest held on Brock-Affleck Field this afternoon.
Springfield now sits at 7-4-2 overall and 5-2-0 (15 points) in the NEWMAC, while Emerson improved to 7-5-1, 5-1-1.
Emerson maintained possession of the ball for the majority of today's contest as they held a 12-2 advantage in shots, including a 7-0 edge in the first half. In the 13th minute, Madeline Khaw crossed the ball into the box and found Brittney Righetti for the game's first goal and for her sixth tally of the season.
The Lions found the insurance goal in the 60th minute when Katie Wojcik slipped the ball to Gina Lukoskie, who took one step and finished for her third goal of the year. Springfield's two shots came from Jen Walker (Webster, Mass.), who hit the ball to the left side of the frame in the 48th minute and from Sonia Dugger (Belchertown, Mass.), who ripped the ball over the crossbar in the 74th minute.
Springfield keeper Taryn Ryan (Holyoke, Mass.) made four saves for the Pride this afternoon as her record dipped to 5-4-2.
The Pride will return to action on Wednesday, October 18 at 7:30 with a home NEWMAC matchup with WPI.
